Obituary
Clarence, the son of Oscar and Mary (Bangston) Gorman, was born February 28, 1908, at Ellsworth, Iowa. In 1928 he moved to the Woden area where he farmed with his father. Clarence received his education in the rural schools. He was united in marriage with Emma Tegtmeyer on September 17, 1933, at Britt and the couple made their home on a farm near Britt until 1958 at which time they moved to an acreage on the edge of Britt. Clarence did custom trucking for the area farmers and served as the Sexton of Evergreen Cemetery from 1969 until 1978. In 1980 he retired.
Clarence was an active member of First Lutheran Church where he served as Chairmen of the Congregation and in 1955 was the Chairmen of the Building Committee for the construction of the new church. He belonged to the Lutheran Brotherhood, Area Men's Choir and Church choir. He received pleasure and joy in singing. Clarence loved raising and riding Arabian horses, building, radio controlled model airplanes, all kinds of woodworking, playing snooker, traveling and visiting with friends and family. He enjoyed flying his own plane in his younger years, and was a member of the Flying Farmers Association.
Survivors include his daughter, Doreen and her husband Robert Conlee on the home acreage at Britt, two grandchildren Douglas Conlee and Michelle Conlee both attending Mankato State University; a special friend Lillian Dolphin of Britt, Iowa; two sisters: Leoan Freeman of New London, Minnesota and Helen and her husband Ben Baker of Hayfield, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Emma, one brother and a sister.
