Clifford Dean Hoskinson, 75, passed away Monday, January 13, 1997, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Care Center - East Campus in Mason City, Iowa.
Cliff, the son of Bryan and Hazel (Proctor) Hoskinson, was born October 9, 1921, in Corning, Iowa. He attended country schools. As a young man, he moved with his parents to Des Moines. On August 23, 1942, he was united in marriage with Fern Powers in Missouri. Cliff then entered the U.S. Army during WW II, where he served with the Medical Corp in the European Theatre, where he received a Purple Heart. Following his discharge, the couple made their home in Des Moines where he worked at a feed mill. He then worked at a dairy in Perry. The couple then moved to Crystal Lake, where Cliff worked at the Crystal Lake Elevator, was Chief of Police in Crystal Lake and delivered Winnebago's. In 1981, the couple moved to Britt. Cliff was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, the American Legion #409 in Crystal Lake. He enjoyed singing with the Barber Shop Chorus.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Fern; his two daughter, Nancy Eden and her husband, Arnie of Woden, and children, Gene of Wesley, and Dawn of Austin, MN; Jannean Eliason and her husband, Dean and children, Mandi and Heather of Crystal Lake; and one brother, Kenneth Hoskinson and his wife, Jean of Sarasota, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
