Obituary
Dorothy Wallen, 94, of Britt, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Westview Care Center in Britt.
Dorothy, the daughter of Norman and Jennie (Lott) Leonard, was born September 19, 1909 in Waukee, Iowa. She received her education in the Waukee School System and graduated from Waukee High School.
Following graduation, she moved to Garner, where she helped her stepsister and her husband. She later moved to Britt.
On November 2, 1930, she was united in marriage with Elmer Wallen in Garner, Iowa. The couple made their home in Britt where Dorothy was employed doing sewing and alterations. She also made countless number of baby sweaters.
Dorothy was a very active member of the Britt Congregational United Church of Christ; she later moved her membership to the Britt Methodist Church. Dorothy was a past member of the Rebekah. She enjoyed playing cards especially bridge and playing bingo. She loved her grandchildren and cherished time she spent with them.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Norman Wallen and his wife, Carole, of Iowa Falls, Harold Wallen and his wife, Nancy, of Britt, Alice Rappe and her husband, Bill, of Clear Lake, and David Wallen and his wife, Patricia, of Minot, North Dakota; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister Louella Killinger of Gainesville, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer, one great-grandson, two brothers and one sister.
