Obituary


Faye V. Denger, 85, of Clarion passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Careage of Clarion in Clarion. Funeral services for Faye Denger will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion with Pastor Nils Hernandez officiating.  Burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 1, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.  A Scriptural Wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Faye Vincent Denger went to be with the Lord on January 28, 2010.  He was born November 16, 1924 in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Ralph and Rhoda (Bangs) Denger, but grew up in the Dows area.  He was proud to have spent 8 years in the Vernon Township #5 Country School, now moved into Dows.  Faye graduated from Dows High School in 1942.  He worked on the Dows Ranch for a few years and then went to Wisconsin where he helped his uncle farm. Faye married Wyona Lucille Hall, of Meservey, on January 24, 1949 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City.  They met on a blind date and were married 2 years later living at Dows for 4 years.  The couple farmed many acres and raised lots of livestock for 16 years at Dows and Armstrong. Faye belonged to Holy Name Society and St. Mary’s Church in Armstrong, N.F.O. and Beef Producers. They returned to the Clarion area in March 1969 where he farmed until retiring to Clarion in 1992.  After retiring he delivered Meals on Wheels and did volunteer driving.  He was proud to be a farmer and a friend of the land. Faye loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion. Faye liked to play cards at the Senior Center and visit with farmers at the Co-op.  He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and had traveled to Australia, Norway, Alaska and Hawaii. Those thankful for having shared in Faye’s life include his wife of 61 years Wyona; children:  Jennifer (Bruce) Kreitlow, Candace (John) Sheehan, Carmel (Earl Jr.) Hammand all of Clarion, Jaclyn (Merlin) Loux of Dows, Judy (Kelly) Thomas of Lakewood, Colorado and Lawrence Denger of Berkley, California; grandchildren:  Todd (Gloria) Kreitlow, Scott (Kim Walz) Sheehan, Rebecca (Aaron) Lewis, Joe (Jennifer) Sheehan, Nick Loux, and Matt (Brittany Fender) Loux; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Forrest Denger; 3 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; and one grandchild.
