Gertie Sonerholm, 101, passed away Sunday, November 28, 1993, at the Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa.
Gertie, the daughter of Nels and Carrie (Nelson) Rasmusson, was born January 10, 1892, on a farm near Britt, Iowa. She received her education in the country schools near Britt.
She was united in marriage with Carol Sonerholm on August 15, 1914 in Blue Earth, Minnesota. The couple made their home on a farm in the Britt area. Following their retiring from farming, they spent winters traveling.
She was a member of the Upper Flat Evangelical Free Church in Britt, the Ladies Aide, and the Britt V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Fern Reed of Waverly, Iowa; her son, Layton and his wife, Alice Sonerholm of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter-in-law, Mildred, 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl in 1967, a son, Gordon, a son-in-law, Richard, three sister, and two brothers.
