Obituary
Jan L. Drabek, 72 of Britt, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
A visitation for Jan Drabek will be held Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.
Janet Lou, daughter of George and Beverly (Price) Ostercamp, was born on October 27, 1949, in Britt. Jan attended Britt High School and graduated with the class of 1967. In high school she was in choir and had a special relationship with her instructor Mrs. Weed.
Jan attended NIACC and obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Jan worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital in Mason City for 18 years, and later worked at Westview in Britt for 4 years.
Jan and Larry were united in marriage at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, on April 9, 1977. This union was blessed with three boys, Ben, Chris, and Adam.
Jan had many hobbies including reading, playing piano, and cross stitching. She loved being on social media and making friends across the United States. She also enjoyed traveling to warmer places down south. She even went on a few cruises with her husband Larry and son Chris.
Jan always put her family over anything, and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.
Jan is survived by her husband of 44 years, Larry; sons Ben (Kristin) Drabek, Chris (Liz) Drabek, and Adam (Amanda) Drabek; grandchildren Brooke, Maxwell, Ky, Zoe, AJ, and Austin; sister Denise Betten; brothers Mike Ostercamp, Gary Ostercamp, and Kevin Ostercamp; step-dad Don Fritz; step family Karen, Donnie, and Jon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jan was preceded by her mother Bev Fritz, and father George Ostercamp.
