Obituary
Jose L. ‘El Chief’ Simental, 57, of Clarion passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jose Simental will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue Northeast in Clarion, with Father Jerry Blake officiating. Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion.
A scriptural wake and rosary will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, with visitation to follow until 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.
Jose Luis, son of Luis Simental and Maria A. Melchor, was born on July 16, 1961 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Jose was married to Mercedes Medina in 1990 in Maine. The couple was blessed with three children.
In 2001, Jose and his family moved from Maine to Clarion. He worked at Decoster Farms and most recently at Centrum Valley Farms.
If Jose wasn’t working, he was at home watching European or Mexican soccer. He occasionally enjoyed trips to the casino. But more than anything, his family was most important to him. Jose always called and checked in with all of his family and greeted them with big hugs whenever he saw them.
Jose is survived by his wife Mercedes of Clarion; three children Dulce Simental of Eagle Grove, Jose ‘Lenny’ Simental of Florida, and Ruby Simental Baez of Veracruz, Mexico; 11 grandchildren Chrystal, Maria, Pedro, Alex, Divina, Oscar, Marilena, Cristian, Edgar, Ximena, and Aniyah; five great grandchildren Armando, Anabella, Elias, Anali, and Anuel; brother Miguel Simental; and two sisters Patricia Torres and Rosario Estrada.
He is preceded in death by his parents.

Se celebrará una misa de sepultura cristiana para José Simental el jueves 20 de junio de 2019 a las 10:30 a.m. en la iglesia católica de St. John, 608 2nd Avenue Northeast en Clarion, con el padre Jerry Blake oficiando. El entierro se llevará a cabo en el cementerio católico de San Juan en Clarion.
La vigilia bíblica y el rosario se llevarán a cabo a las 5:00 p.m. del miércoles 19 de junio de 2019, con visitas a las 7:00 p.m. en Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East en Clarion.
José Luis, hijo de Luis Simental y María A. Melchor, nació el 16 de julio de 1961 en Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. José se casó con Mercedes Medina en 1990 en Maine. La pareja fue bendecida con tres hijos.
En 2001, José y su familia se mudaron de Maine a Clarion. Trabajó en Decoster Farms y más recientemente en Centrum Valley Farms.
Si José no estaba trabajando, estaba en casa viendo fútbol europeo o mexicano. De vez en cuando disfrutaba de los viajes al casino. Pero más que nada, su familia era lo más importante para él. José siempre llamaba y se comunicaba con toda su familia y los saludaba con grandes abrazos cada vez que los veía.
A Jose le sobreviven su esposa Mercedes de Clarion; tres hijos Dulce Simental de Eagle Grove, José Lenny Simental de Florida y Ruby Simental Baez de Veracruz, México; 11 nietos Chrystal, Maria, Pedro, Alex, Divina, Oscar, Marilena, Cristian, Edgar, Ximena, y Aniyah; cinco bisnietos Armando, Anabella, Elias, Anali y Anuel; hermano Miguel Simental; y dos hermanas Patricia Torres y Rosario Estrada.
Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres.
