Obituary
Lillian Campbell, 88, of Belmond, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.
Private memorial services were held.
Lillian Phyllis Campbell, 88. was born to Clarence and Sylvia Bohlen in Alexander, Iowa, on Sept. 24, 1927, the youngest of their three daughters.
At 8 years old, Lil was helping on the family farm and helped deliver some livestock to John Campbell who had a 9-year-old boy with him. As fate would have it, Lil met that same boy again shortly after World War 2 and Jack and Lil were instant sweethearts who married on Aug. 14, 1947. They moved to the farm south of Belmond where Lil and Jack farmed and were blessed with four children. Jack passed away in 1982, Lil continued to live and work on the family farm operated by her son Duncan.
Lil was a talented basketball player for Alexander High School graduating in 1945. After graduating, Lil went to business school in Des Moines and worked as a secretary for a short time before marrying Jack.
Lil loved to bowl, enjoyed traveling, was an artist of many talents including hand-thrown pottery and delicate beadwork. Lil's pride and joy was the farm place. She was meticulous in its care and enjoyed decorating the outdoors for holidays. Her most favorite memories were going to Mannheim Steamroller concerts.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her daughter Timathe and her two sisters Frances Larsen, Berniece Anderson Scott.
She is survived by her three sons: Lance (Meg), Rod (Dale) and Duncan (Connie); grandchildren John (Trudy), Jason, Jeremy (Jill), Grace, Rod Jr. (Heather), Samantha (Daniel), and Michelle (Mark) and many great-grandchildren.
