Michael Wayne Selvidge, 55, of Mason City passed away on June 4, 2023
Funeral Services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Northwood, Iowa on July 15, 10:30AM
Michael was born on April 11, 1968 in South Haven, Michigan to Bertha Elizabeth Biggs and Jimmy Lee Selvidge.
Growing up in Northwood, he loved playing sports such as football and loved to swim. He also loved riding his brand new bike from his dad, as well as sledding and fishing. Mike was even in the Northwood newspaper for his fishing skills. Mike loved being a big brother to his little sisters Michelle and Jessica. He loved hanging out with his best friend, and sister Patti. They would both sneak out at night to hang out with their friends. Mike was also involved in FHA and Boy Scouts.
Throughout his life, Mike lived in South Haven, Michigan as well as Albert Lea, Minnesota before he moved to Iowa. In Iowa, he lived in Northwood, Mason City, and Kanawha.
Mike worked as a welder for Albert Lea Trailer, and also worked at Mason City Tree Services, but his true passion was carpentry. Mike was a jack of all trades, and a man of many talents. He always enjoyed singing to his daughters, the song “Amazing Grace” to his oldest daughter Nicole, and “Good Morning Beautiful” to his youngest daughter Chelby.
Mike was a very amiable man, as he was always helping others in need. Michael always knew what to say and always gave the best advice. He has impacted a lot of lives along the way and will be missed deeply.
Michael is proceeded in death by his parents, Jimmy Lee and Bertha Elizabeth Selvidge, his grandparents, Vernon and Pearl Selvidge, and his uncles Donald Sampson and William Biggs.
Michael is survived by his two daughters Nicole Schmidt of Albert Lea, Minnesota, daughter of Melody Schmidt, and Chelby Harms of Kanawha- daughter of Kendra Harms, by his siblings Patricia Selvidge (Curt Jensen) of Twin Lakes, Iowa, Jessica Smith of Lake Mills, Iowa, Michelle (Jason) Kluender of Kiester, Minnesota, Christena Hoagland of Peru, Indiana, Eddie Hoagland of Peru, Indiana, and Robert Hoagland of Peru, Indiana, as well as many nieces and nephews – Whitney, wife of Michaels Nephew Andrew, Desi, Wife of Evan, Sierra, Josiah, Michael, Katelyn, Brennan, Cassie, Jessie, Robert, China, Jamal, and his great nephew Elijah Esse.
