Obituary
Olga E. Thomas, age 95, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at her home in Clarion.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, 602. N. Main Street, Clarion, Iowa, with pastor Tim Platt officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, May 3, 2007 at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Clarion Church of Christ.
Olga Elizabeth Thomas, daughter of Hans and Nellie (Marcus) Sathre, was born on June 3, 1911 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was raised in Eagle Grove and graduated from Eagle Grove High School.
Olga was united in marriage to Walter Thomas on June 9, 1935 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. To this union three children were born. They lived and worked together on their family farm near Clarion, unitl 1976 when they moved into town. She was a member of the Clarion Church of Christ, where she was very active.
She worked as a secretary for Summers Insurance for over thirty years. She was an avid gardener and cook, spending many hours canning her fresh produce. She was a gifted seamstress and knitter, knitting many things with love for her family. Olga always enjoyed taking care of people and was very devoted to her family and friends. She loved her children and grandchildren very much and was an eternal optimist.
Olga is survived by her two daughters, Kathy (Curt) Froyen of Knoxville, IA, and Christy (Jim) Galt of Urbandale, IA; one son, Bruce (Linda) Thomas of Goliad, TX; and three granddaughters, Anne (Brendan) Mowery of Madison, WI, Laura Froyen of South Bend, IN, and Emily Galt of Iowa City, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter, two brothers; and one sister.
