Obituary
Richard Norstrud, 58, of 165 Center Street East, Britt, Iowa passed away at home surrounded by his family, Tuesday, June 5, 2001 from cancer.
Richard was born July 18, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Iven and Florence (Krambeer) Norstrud. He was bapitzed into the Lutheran faith September 13, 1942.
Richard was a member of the Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout badge. He graduated from Britt High School in 1960. After graduation he was employed by Britt Tech Corporation for 8 year. He graduated from Iowa State University with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1971. He was then employed by the Engineering Department of Northwestern Telephone Labs in Chicago, Illinois. In 1972 Richard returned to Britt where he has managed his father's business, NORCO Manufacturing, Incorporated.
On December 12, 1975, Richard was united in marriage to Karen Beane and adopted her three children. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Forest City, Iowa. Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his Church, training and showing his Labrador Retriever "Velvet", camping, and fishing.
Richard is survived by his wife, Karen of Britt; daughters Tamara and husband, Randy Oettchen, and their children, Emily and Brandon of Gladbrook, Iowa; Debra and husband, David Eickholt, and their children , Adam and Richard of Maxwell, Iowa; Laura and husband, Thomas Minehart of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and their four children, Jesse and wife, Serena, and their son, Carter of Nevada, Iowa, Joshua of Glenville, Minnesota, Danielle and Nicole of Albert Lea, Minnesota; Cheryl Olson and her sons, Casey and Justin of Corwith, Iowa and son, Davin Norstrud and his children, Hailey and Shawn of Britt. Richard is also survived by his parents, Iven and Florence Norstrud of Britt; a sister, Pernola Jean Hochhaus of Grapevine, Texas; and a brother, Terry Nostrud, of Fernadina Beach, Florida.
Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Alice (Farmer) Krambeer and Olai and Stella (Larsen) Norstrud; also his son-in-law, Ron Olson.
