Obituary
Robert Duane Schreur was born on June 11, 1943, to George and Anna Schreur. He lived in the Kanawha area all his life and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1961. After graduation he worked for local farmers and at the Kanawha Elevator. He served in the Army from 1964 - 1966 and was stationed in Germany. In 1967 he started farming. He took great joy in caring for God's creation. He married Char Rietema on September 5, 1969. God richly blessed richly blessed the with four sons: Timothy Robert, Nathan George, Daniel John, and Aaron Joel.
Going to his boys' activities was a priority and a privilege. He was a lifelong and active member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church and the Kanawha Christian School Society.
Bob noticed his first symptons of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in 1990. He went on a home ventilator in 1996 and was so very thankful for five extra years of life to enjoy his family, to celebrate two more sons' marriages and the birth of two precious grandchildren.
Bob died at home, with his family at his bedside, on September 1, 2001. He was preceded into glory by his Mom and Dad. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Char, his sons: Tim and his wife, Diane and their children, Jonathan and Megan of Kanawha, Iowa, Nate and his wife, Catherine of Sanborn, Iowa, Dan and his wife, Crystal of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Aaron Schreur of Kanawha, Iowa; and his sister, Ruth and her husband, Larry Dirksen of Buffalo Center, Iowa.
We want to say thank you so much:
For all the prayers so many of you have said for us over the years. We felt them.
For all the cards and notes of encouragement. They brightened our days.
For all the visits from many of you, especially these past five years. They meant more to Bob than words can ever express. Thank you too for being here today.
These are the scriptures that meant so much to Bob and that he chose for this day. We can rejoice because of Jesus Christ was his Savior and Lord. It is our prayer that each person here today has that same assurance of their salvation.
