Ruth Florence Evangeline Rykken Robinson. Florence was born May 31, 1912 in Danvers, Minnesota to Anna Teigen and Charlie Rykken, seventh of nine children. She was raised in Danvers, where her father ran the Red & White General Store which the family lived above for many years. Later they moved to a home in Danvers, of which Florence had many fond memories. Florence was a sickly child; she didn't begin school until she was seven. Still, she completed high school at 16, as class salutatorian, while rooming in Benson as Danvers had no high school. After high school she returned to Danvers to care for her ailing mother. After her mother's death she stayed at home taking care of her brothers.
The end of WWII brought Dayton Robinson home and up to visit his brother Allen, the blacksmith in Danvers. Dayton and Florence courted and were married October 3, 1948. They lived for one and a half years in Armstrong, Iowa and moved to Britt early in 1950.
Florence was active in the First Lutheran Church, in Adult Bible Study. She worked at Westview Care Center for 15 years in the kitchen.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Mari and her husband, Arthur Cohen of Arlington Heights, Illinois and two grandchildren, Jennifer and David. Also her brothers: Windy and Ken, and her sisters: Viola and Ester. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers: Reginald, Jake, Cliff and Lyle.
