Obituary
Sadie Marie Huisinga, 83, passed away Friday, April 12, 1996, at her home at Prairie View Apartments in Garner, Iowa.
Sadie, the daughter of Clarence and Edna (Lovick) Monson, was born January 10, 1913, near Forest City, Iowa. She graduated from the Crystal Lake High School.
On June 11, 1936, she was united in marriage with Imko Huisinga at Woden, Iowa. The couple farmed in Bingham Township and moved to Crystal Lake in 1972. In June of 1986, Imko and Sadie celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Sadie was a member of the Woden Christian Reformed Church and was a 4-H leader for several years. She enjoyed painting, quilting and rosemaling. As a farm wife and mother of two daughters, she also had a lifelong interest in anything green and growing. She planted and tended beautiful gardens at her home and was a student of herbs and their uses.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Marlen and her husband, Imko.
Sadie is survived by two daughters, Rosalie Huisinga Norem of Arlington, Va, and Sylvia Severson of Minneapolis, MN; a son-in-law, Robin Severson of Minneapolis, MN; three grandchildren, Julie K. Norem of Wellesley, MA, Steven Norem of Fremont, IA, and Buffy Severson of Minneapolis, MN; one great-grandchildren, Nathan Norem Cheek of Wellesley, MA; and one sister, Opal Hamilton of Garner, IA.
