Obituary
Verle B. Everett, 86, of Britt passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
Memorial services for Verle Everett will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 3:30 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.
Visitation will be held on Saturday beginning at 2:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt.
Verle was born on July 28, 1935, in Stilson Iowa. The son of Virgil and Sarah (Sadie) Everett. He was the third of five children.
Verle was taught farming by his father, and was milking cows and driving the tractor at an early age on the family farm. He and his younger brother, Tom were inseparable, whether working or playing. The family regularly attended the Stilson Evangelical United Brethren Church. He loved fishing the Iowa and Southern Minnesota lakes with his family. Verle inherited his lifelong love of fishing from both his mother and father.
Verle was on the Britt High School wrestling team and graduated from Britt High School in 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Ft. Lewis, Washington for two years.
In 1961 he married Bonnie Passhel. They later divorced. In 2005, he married Kathryn Jane Vrieze.
Verle was well-known for his serious, dry humor, and timely quips, "It is and it ain't." and "I don't ask the HARD questions." He also liked playing card games, visiting casinos and spending time with family and friends.
Verle loved Gooseberry pie and freely bragged about Kathy's pie making skills.
Verle is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tom Everett, his sister Marion Everett, his daughter Marsha Everett and great grandson Johnathan Smyth.
He is survived by his wife Kathy of Britt, his son Scott (Christy) Everett, Terry (Susan) Everett, his grandchildren Paul (Amanda) Smyth, Teran (Tricia) Everett and Theresa Everett and great grandchildren Owen and Holden Smyth, step-children Debbie (Mike) Chisholm, Peggy (Craig) Adams and Randy (Sherry) Vrieze and many step-grandchildren.
