Obituary
Verna Mildred Hanson, age 80, of Iowa Falls, Iowa formerly of Dows, passed away March 29, 2006 at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls, IA.
Verna was born November 4, 1925 east of Radcliffe to parents Chris and Clara Raska Sorenson. She was raised and attended country school near Radcliffe.
Her mother passed away at a young age so Verna had to grow up fast helping the family on the farm. She worked off the farm in various jobs including being a welder.
On January 15, 1950 she married Milo Hanson at the Lutheran Parsonage in Radcliffe. She and Milo continued to farm with Milo’s father and in 1959 they moved to their own farm northeast of Popejoy. She loved gardening at times caring for as many as three gardens. She also enjoyed raising chickens and turkeys. She canned much of her produce sharing with family and friends. Verna was a member of First Lutheran Church in Dows and the Ladies Aide.
Verna is survived by four children; Jean Schulz and her husband Roger of Eagle Grove, Connie Hubner of Alden, Larry Hanson and his wife Charlene of Alden, Larry Hanson and his wife Charlene of Alden, and Denny Hanson and his wife Judy of Alden, Seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers; Hubert Tussey of Story city, Harold Sorenson of Ames, one sister Gladys Witthuhn of Story City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Milo, and three brothers Richard, Lester, and Irving Sorenson.
