Obituary


Virgil Francis Chizek, 70, passed away Thursday, September 28, 1995 at his home.

Virgil was born November 30, 1924, in Garner, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Ella Marie (Buckley) Chizek.  He attended and graduated from Britt High School in 1941.  Virgil served his country in the Korean Conflict.

On April 26, 1958 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Rose Kemmerick at Stacyville, Iowa.  The couple lived in the Britt area their entire married life.  Virgil farmed and was employed for 20 years at the Army Reserve Center.  He loved farming and also enjoyed traveling and animals.  Virgil was in the Army Reserve for 30 years, retiring in January 1984.  He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, the American Legion where he was a past commander and the VFW.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children: Virginia Schene and her husband, Tony of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Margaret Fenlon and her husband, Warren and their son, Bryce of Rochester, Minnesota; Dan of Britt; Dave of Webster City; six sisters: Rosella Daniels of Britt; Kathleen Pistek and her husband, Leonard of Britt; Irene Hiscock and her husband, Bill of Garner; Rita Stevenson of Mason City; Veronica Lawlor and her husband, Bill of Clear Lake; Marge Jano and her husband, Steve of Berlin, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
