Don was born on June 26, 1928, in Jackson, Minnesota to Orvis and Elma (Stapley) Shillington. He attended Dayton Township country school southwest of Clarion through the eighth grade. Don loved to have his grandchildren visit the farm and would spoil all of them. Don was a soft-spoken man and will be remembered for his kind and gentle ways, sense of humor and his ability to remember what year people graduated from Clarion High School.
